Though junior bankers are not traditionally expected to bring in business, bankers who are officers of their firm are indeed tasked with generating income for the firm. Networks may take the form of contacts within an industry (such as CEOs and CFOs of high-tech companies), contacts at financial firms (such as leveraged buyout firms), contacts at other banks, and contacts in professions such as law, accounting and even headhunting (recruiting and hiring). For junior bankers, networking might include knowing other people within their own bank (from training programs) or other junior bankers at outside firms (from school or through friends).
